It was a great introduction for people new to watercolor. I?m not a complete newbie, but I still left with several extra tips and ideas as well as more confidence. Brenda is personable and put her students at ease. She competently and patiently guided us through the steps to a successful painting. Two hours well-spent!

ARTISTS
Brenda Secky
Brenda Secky is an artist whose passion for creating has been a lifelong journey. From sketching at the age of three to selling caricatures by ten, her love for art only deepened as she explored pen and ink, painting, and every medium she could get her hands on. Along the way, she has shared her talents generously.. volunteering at the Ringling Museum, teaching inner-city children, and running afterschool classes in her own neighborhood studio. With over 200 commissioned works completed and even her own faux painting and mural business, Brenda 2019s career reflects both her skill and her dedication to making art accessible and inspiring to others.

Her work is rooted in both personal history and meaningful mentorship. Inspired by her great-great-grandfather, a watercolor artist in early 1900s New York, Brenda carried on the family tradition of art with the encouragement of a 90-year-old German painter who saw her potential and welcomed her into his studio. She finds joy in landscapes, florals, and beach scenes, selling her pieces on FineArtAmerica.com, while still embracing every chance to connect with people through creativity. For Brenda, painting is more than technique.. it 2019s her 201cfuel for the soul, 201d a place where time disappears, accomplishment shines, and joy is shared. With her guidance, you can feel confident you 2019re learning from someone who not only knows her craft but lives it wholeheartedly.

Brenda Secky is available for private bookings

Most Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Title or Location: Tropical Waterlillies
I was interested in painting a variety of waterlilies and came across this image. I love how they appear to be moving in the breeze and tried to capture that in the painting. I imagined them reaching for the sun just after a rain.

Title or Location: Island Sunset
This 9x12 watercolor was inspired by a photograph of the Turks and Caicos Islands at sunset where she was recently visiting. Plam trees dominate tge scene overlaying the bushes with a peek of the cabanas and calm ocean in the background. You see the sky at sunset with dark rainclouds on the horizon. I painted this piece to exemplify atmospheric landscapes with both energy and tranquility,

Title or Location: The Marshes
This 9x12 watercolor is a depiction of wetlands typical of Georgia at sunset. It's painted in a loose and expressive style. A central blue waterway snakes through the dense green reeds of the foreground marsh, reflecting the golden light of the sky with gray clouds and a distant line of green trees in the background giving it depth and perspective.
